Nordisk Tidende

Many of you know that my mom is an amazing photographer. She also loves to travel. Her favorite destination in the world being her parents homeland Norway. Mom had an out of this world trip to Lofoten Islands last summer and was compelled to right an article about her journey. The Norway Times or Nordisk Tidende printed her article! Here is an excerpt from the article which mentions my favorite image from her trip, but to be honest who could really choose? So enjoy, and look out travel writers... here comes June Jacobsen!
"We saw many minke whales and were happy with that when a large humpback whale breached not too far from our raft. Caught totally off guard, I don’t believe anyone captured the sight. I kept my Canon 5D glued to my eye and a short while later got a few super shots of the whale breaching a second and last time. Amazingly, our guide told us that this was the first time she had ever seen a humpback whale in this fjord. So sometimes having every detail planned ahead might just not be the ticket. A visit to the little wildlife exhibit was “Free”. We paid for our excursion and it was worth every krone."

Children's Drop & Shop
I was psyched when Stacey Lai co-founder of the Children's Drop & Shop asked me to come photograph the opening of the event that was held at Brookwood School last Thursday night. It was the best so far with beautiful second hand clothing, shoes, toys and brand new items from fabulous stores. The Red Wagon had their extra inventory there and it was a huge hit for me. My children scored! I also found some great books too. Thank you Stacey for having me be a part of the Spring 2009 Children's Drop & Shop!

Brad and Amanda

These two made my job easy.... they are both such easy going, loving people and made me feel like we were old friends, which always take some of the pressure out of photographing a wedding. Their friends and family had much of the same demeanor. Thank you both for letting me photograph such a special day and... CONGRATULATIONS!

Brothers and Sistas!
When our friend Bethany asked us to photograph her and her siblings we were psyched. We had heard so much about them, and we know how dear to Bethany they all are. This was a really fun session. I was up to about 20 faves and had to bump it down... so tricky! Shalley (wrong sp?) their little pup was a good model too, and very excited about the seagulls. Enjoy!

Harold Jacobsen
My grandfather was and will forever be one of the most important people in my life. He taught his many grandchildren and great grandchildren the most important lessons in life. One of my favorites being... "Sing with the birds". He was a man who knew how to take care of people and how to love the land we were given. I am thankful my children were able to meet him, that he was able to hold Vera June and squeeze her little toes, and that Eldon was able to run, play whiffle ball, rake leaves, crab walk, and do many other fun activities with his great grandfather. With immense gratitude we say goodbye for now...

Sea World
Backing up to a few weeks ago... we visited Sea World for the first time. It was really fun. I can be a party pooper when it comes to theme parks, but for my kids I think I just might be able to get into it. Makenzie is their cousin, and she LOVES helping me out especially with Vera June. I think she is going to have to come up for a summer visit ;)
Enjoy!

We Click
This week is the Grazier Photography We Click Retreat in VT. We were happy to be able to join the gang for one day and very sad to leave. This year we chickened out at the thought of leaving our 2 little ones behind for 4 days. Next year we are SO there. I can' say enough about all of these wonderful couple photographers, and instead of trying to put my thoughts together in my own words I will quote the "We Click" mug that Enna and Matt designed for the gang...
"we shoot we edit we rock we photoshop we design we travel we love we talk we &#^$! we twitter we ski we eat we sleep we dream we blog we pose we teach we move we share we shake we dance we read we write we light we dodge we burn we rest we snowshoe we sauna we cook we drink we share we focus we learn we laugh we cry we create".
